Gerald “Jerry” Blanchard, born in 1920, started boxing at the age of twelve.

In 1937, he won his first Championship, the Quebec Golden Gloves.

In 1938, he was runner-up in the finals of the Canadian Championships held that year in Winnipeg.

Jerry won the Canadian Championship in 1939 by defeating Ken Lindsay of Vancouver.

Jerry, the Dominion of Canada Champion, was a rugged boxer who could punch with the best of them. He was never knocked out.
