Ernest “Ernie” H. Booth, born on April 15, 1905 in Rochdale, Lancaster, England, came to Cornwall in 1929.

Ernie learned the art of self-defense in England. He fought in Cornwall, Ottawa, Montreal, and the USA.

Ernie fought some of Canada’s best – Harry Hill, who was fly-weight Champion in 1929; Bobby Leitham, Champion of Canada; Tommy Ryan, known as the spider of USA (he fought Tommy in the auditorium in Ottawa, and won); also Frankie Martin, Champion of Canada; and defeated Kid Formosa at the Cornwall Athletic Grounds.

Ernie fought for Johnny Quinn of Montreal. His over-all fight record was 165 victories and 10 losses in 175 fights.

He died in 1983.
