Willie (Billy) Burns

W. C. Burns, born in 1875, was known as “Billy.” He was an outstanding clean cut athlete.

Fred Degan, Billy, and Don Cameron were known as the “Stone-wall defence.”

He was a great lacrosse player and promoter and went to great expense to keep lacrosse alive in Cornwall, and was first to introduce professional lacrosse to Canada, along with Senator Leo DanDurand, T. Tom Arnold, and Joe Lally.

He brought Jack Dempsey to fight in Cornwall when he was a Champion in 1924.
